Fairy Tales Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Fairy Tales - Research Paper ExampleIndeed, in fairy tales, the stepmother is usually mean, deceitful and incapable of loving her step infantren. In this daytime and age when divorce, separation and single parenthood make having a stepmother a fact of life, it is a wonder why fairy tale stepmothers are stillness stereotyped as such. Moreover, because of how everyday having a stepmother is nowadays, it is curious to know how these evil depictions may influence the relationship of todays children with their stepmothers. One reason basis the evil stepmother character is history, supposedly. Author Maria Warner writes that fairy tales may be influenced by the happenings in society during the time the stories were written. Death at childbirth was communal in earlier times so having a new mother was a usual occurrence. Warner believes that making the stepmother wicked in fairy tales served as a warning for readers during that time and points to real-life tragedies where an offspring is killed so the stepmothers child can inherit the fathers riches. (Sellers) Another explanation for this depiction comes from Bruno Bettelheim and other critics who take away psycho-analyzed fairy tales. According to this group, the portrait of an evil stepmother is actually a projection of the bad side a good mother has. (Tatar) Supposedly, an individual does not timbre as guilty hating the bad qualities of ones mom epitomized by the malevolent stepmother. With this image of a mothers evilness, mom is able to anticipate the loving and good-natured parent, always wanting the best for her child. Writer Patricia Watson shares that in Europe during the writing of Hansel and Gretel, peasants abandoned their children because they did not have enough food to guide them (Watson) and thus it was easier to hate a stepmom for this. It is noteworthy, too, how the stepmother is made to be jealous of her stepdaughters beauty or good qualities. In ampere-second White, the Evil Queen who is t rivial becomes angry when her magic mirror says its famous line Snow White is the fairest of all. (Grimm) Her anger led her to think of ways on how to get rid of Snow White in her world. Wanting to look pretty and young is not a problem and cannot e viewed as a mistake on the stepmothers side. Everyone wants to look young and good. What made her evil though is her banishing of Snow White from the castle and trying to kill her. Although having a bad stepmother may be common in this age of divorce and separation, it has not been a regular occurrence for stepmothers to kill their stepdaughter or stepson. In Cinderella, the vain stepmother forces Cinderella to work in her own house, possibly in an attempt to make the pretty stepdaughter dirty-looking and unpleasant. She also makes it hard for Cinderella to attend the Princes ball by giving her so many chores and then lock the child up in her room. (Cinderella) In 2007, a self-study about the relationship of a stepmother and stepdaught er was released to the public. The researchers were members of one family who exemplified one of the most common contemporary family structures a stepfamily. The researchers notice that the wicked stepmother title is most times brought about by anger that the biological child cannot express towards the biological mother and by negative stereotypes that the child hears. (Strawn and Knox) This research is important. It

Philopsphy paper Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Philopsphy paper - Essay ExampleThe concept of categorical commanding is deservingly considered to be the dominant in the philosophy of Immanuel Kant. It states that a person should do something not because he wants to do this, but following the rule that is common for everybody and should be strictly followed. All imperatives are expressed with an ought, which indicates how an objective police of reason relates to a will that isnt constituted so as to be inescapably determined by itnamely, relating to it as a constraint. An imperative says that it would be good to do or to refrain from doing something, but it addresses this to a will that doesnt ceaselessly do x just because x is represented to it as good to do(Kant 18) Kant states that if a person allows himself/herself to set the principle that will be followed only if by him/her and not by the rest of the people, this person can be called immoral. Kant provides different examples to demonstrate how categorical imperative was derived. The most widespread example is a persons request for money that he/she is not going to give back, notwithstanding that the promise is given by him/her. Kant states that if all the people scupper promises, they promises would not exist any more as people would stop believing them. Thus, promises should not be low-spirited and there is a common law not to falling out the promises as this is not right. Here we meet the first reason why right is right and wrong is wrong. The actions fulfilled in accordance with the universal principles set in the society, which should be strictly followed by the people, are considered to be right and everything that contradicts this principle is wrong. Our actions should not be based on our desires, they should be implemented in accordance with the universal rule. The main thing is not to cause any harm to other people. Thus, if an action brings harm to people, as in our example, it cant become a universal law and should not be followed. O bviously the false promise isnt made careful by its merely extricating me from my present dif?culties I have to think about whether it will in the long run cause more trouble than it saves in the present Peoples loss of trust in me might be far more disadvantageous than the trouble I am forthwith trying to avoid, and it is hard to tell whether it mightnt be more prudent to act according to a universal maxim not ever to get through a promise that I dont intend to keep (Kant 11). The conclusion can be made from the example that promises should not be broken as this causes harm to people. Any break of promise can be considered to be immoral. According to Kant, there is a universal law and it is immoral to break it. 2. According to vocaliser, we must not act so as to turn over a major absorb for a minor interest. Explain why. Explain how this affects Singers views on the eating animals and use of them in experiments and his views on abortion and euthanasia. The philosophy of Peter Singler is very interesting and unique. According to Peter Singer, we should not sacrifice major interest to satisfy minor interest. Minor interest is the interest that may be ignored and we can easily do without its satisfaction. Major interest is more serious as if it is not satisfied it may cause a trouble. Single apply this statement to the issue of eating animals. Chinese art from the 1920s to contemporary China - Essay ExampleThe rootage kind harmonized the goals of the presidential term with those of the artists. The goal of the artists in this kind of art was to modernize their art but at the same time maintain about aspect of the Chinese culture. artist Ong Schan Tchow who got his education in China and in France is an example of those who practiced this first kind of art. He subtly combined westbound art elements especially realism and perspective with some aspects of traditional Chinese art such as calligraphy and minimal contrast using smooth color tones. However, there was a larger band of artists that used a different approach during this period. They attempted to reject the aspects of old Chinese culture and they created a culture which emulated the West. This movement was referred to as the New Culture movement.2 Apart from visual art, the movement touched on other aspects of culture such as literature and the government. The movements proponents advocated for a government that was based on Western democracy ideals. The movement drastically attempted to differentiate itself from the old form of Chinese art. This was done through outright rejection of Chinese traditional culture and consciously copying ideas from Western art. An example was the introduction of low art forms such as cartoons and comic posters in their art works.3 The eruption of the Chinese war in 1949 abruptly ended the Republican Era. A new age of Chinese report in which the government played an even bigger role in the transformation of Chinas art that the previous government came into being. All aspects of Chinese life including art came under government control. The communist leadership tried to distance itself from the previous era. Entirely new art forms were encouraged while at the same time clamping down on traditional practices in Chinese life. The art in this era was characterized by a lot of propaganda.4 Artists had to be highl y careful with their works lest they found themselves being branded as being counter revolutionary. The use of socialist realism was encouraged by the Chinese government. Art that had been developed by the Soviet Union during previous decades was promoted by the Chinese government as a model by which Chinese artists were to develop their art. In this era, art was seen as a tool which was to be produced in large volumes. Despite the stringent rules on art during this period, a few beautiful and headmaster paintings were produced. Nursing Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Nursing - Essay ExampleThese include denial, anger, bargaining, depression and adoption. everywhere the years, statistics have proved that separate situations of loss can cause people to undergo the aforementioned emotional stages. According to Kubler-Ross, the first stage implies dealing with affliction of losing a loved one this stage is denial. It is a temporary defence and will soon be replaced with partial acceptance (Kubler-Ross, 1969). Denial is a severalise of unbelief when one first hears the news of the fateful event or death. The person is in shock and wishes that this is only a dream or a passing wind. In the Bible, Job lost all his wealth when he was tested by the devil. In one single day, he lost his cristal children, thousands of household animals including sheep, oxen, donkeys and camels. After receiving the news, Job fell down and worshiped God, which is a contrast to Kubler-Ross theory. Secondly, after acceptance, persons get stormy and go out to seek reasons . Job got angry on hearing the news of the loss he tore his mantle and shaved his hair but did not express his anger to God. Additionally, he goddamned the day he was born. However, he did not ask why all that was happening in his life but he reckoned that he came naked to the public and he would leave the same way. Thirdly, Kubler-Ross observed that people get into bargaining with their overlord or the universe about their loss. In contrast, Job accepted his makers wisdom and did not try to bargain. Fourthly, a person becomes withdrawn, gets into depression, and wonders whether life is still worth living. Likewise, Job felt helpless and his wife would tell him to torture God and die as a last resort. Lastly, Kubler-Ross observed that patients in terminal distemper would eventually accept their fate and seek out a normal life again. Similarly, Job accepted the will of God and did not heed to his friends and his wifes request to curse God. He received a double portion of his pri or wealth. The stages of loss, as suggested by Kubler-Ross, may not apply to Buddhism, which is a funerary religion. The Japanese poems dwell so much on death and eternity and regard it as a new way of looking at life or as a new enlightenment. Additionally, they view in cycles of rebirth and wondering souls, which gives them an aspect of accepting loss as the will of their Nirvana. A strong relationship exists between joy and the above grieve models. Joy is a state of happiness contributed by good things of life. For instance health, not dying, love optimism, hope, and admiration. According to Kearney & Griffin, parents draw joy from talking about the supremacy of their children as affectionate, beautiful, generous, or cheerful. Joy is the opposite of grief and does not exist in isolation of grief. Drawing two circles and naming one joy and the other grief, the place they meet at is a combination of both joy and grief (Kearney & Griffin, 2001). At one point, one is happy about th eir life and winner but at the back of their mind, there is a possibility of death, sickness, or loss of job. Therefore, people move with grief as much as they interact with joy in their daily lives. I concur with Kubler-Ross method of grieving. News of loss of a loved one or a terminal illness leaves devastating effect on ones life. However, each person takes a different turn on receiving such news. Some will go straight to acceptance others follow the five steps, while some may remain in denial forever. According to Good Therapy website,

Case study report Statistics Project Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Case study report - Statistics Project ExampleThis paper will reexamination some of the key elements of the law. These elements includeSince the enactment of the proposition 209, diversity in Californian schools has marginally decreased and the amendment is aimed at increasing cultural diversity in Californias higher education institutions.A key analysis of the topic, however, indicates that there is a possibility that the introduction of the act would not only hinder the progress and exploitation of diversity in Californian institutions, but also would primarily motivate racial profiling in the public school system.Regardless, this does not automatically shed Proposition 209 more appropriate than SCA5. Even so, it shows that the policy has been effective and as such, there is no need to eradicate it completely from the system. The first reason why the amendment would not be introduced effectively into the system is the consideration of the various changes that have taken place si nce the enactment of the Proposition 209, that hindered all Californian offices, schools and employment opportunities from considering race, sex, grammatical gender and age when selecting mass.Currently, several universities around the country practice the affirmative action clause proposed by the amendment, but these same universities have not violated the oppose Protection Rights (Joe Gardners State Assembly, 2014). The blacks, the Hispanics and the Asian-Americans are the worst affected if the bill is passed. Primarily, the racial profiling or preference in the selection, according to the proposing parties, would allow schools to belatedly select and promote an equal selection criterion if properly enforced. The enactment of the policy, which directly opposes the Proposition 209, which was enacted in 1996 and which has been a little fruitful now. Most people fail to see the reason
